Working with our friends at Streamliner, we created a dynamic visual presentation for the 2021 Dominion Post Sport and Recreation Awards. This prestigious event hosted by Nuku Ora has been running for over 40 years, celebrating the contribution that sport and recreation makes to the wider Wellington community. We created a slick, cohesive look for the event with a motif of pulsating energy - flowing through our rivers, in our veins and our community.
We created a range of assets for the event, including animated awards slides and a beautiful holding state. We developed the holding state by converting topographic geodata of Wellington’s iconic Red Rocks into a stunning animated 3D model. We then added a dynamic energy flash that would flow through the composition and interact with the imposing landscape.
We also designed visuals for two of the powerful live performances. The opening number, a spirited Sāsā (traditional Samoan dance), was accompanied by a dazzling display of coloured lines, lights and patterns that complimented the high energy performance - while the Cyr Wheel performance coincided with a harmonious display of abstract circular shapes and motions.
