Empowering the women of Te Whanganui-a-Tara
FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ was an opportunity to showcase Wellington wāhine to the world. Storybox partnered with WellingtonNZ to put a face to a diverse group of Wellington women, all answering the question, “What is greatness?”
WellingtonNZ wanted to seize Wellington being one of four Aotearoa New Zealand host cities as an opportunity to empower people. Inspired by the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ tagline, Beyond Greatness™, this bright, bold and absolutely positive street poster campaign celebrates the intelligent, hard working women of Wellington, while the whole world is watching.
This campaign was just one part of a series of public installations created by Storybox for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™. Also featured were light shows, signage, wayfinding, and Māori storytelling. The Storybox team also created a second series of FIFA Women’s World Cup™ installations in Ōtepoti Dunedin.
The series was photographed by portrait photographer Anna Briggs and designed and illustrated by Kimi Moana Whiting.
