2020
Each year Wellington City Council presents a two-week celebration to mark the rising of Matariki. In 2020, Matariki ki Pōneke was celebrated like never before, with a combination of complex live and digital events. Coming out of lockdown and the accompanying sense of isolation, the Wellington City Council asked us to develop marketing materials for the event that would capture the communal essence of Matariki.
Combining traditional and contemporary design elements, we developed a whole new look and feel for the festival. Alongside our larger projects Ahi Kā (an immersive audiovisual display projected across the front of Te Papa Tongarewa) and Mana Moana Digital Ocean (an online multimedia collaboration with leading interdisciplinary Māori and Pasifika artists) we created visually engaging material for both print and digital, including posters, logos and website design.
